At the Town of the Blue Mountains second public meeting on renewable energy on January 14/06 Jones Consulting Group presented a report on renewable energy options in which it was recommended on page 15 "that the town approve an Official plan Amendment that would permit wind energy facilities in most land use designations, subject to detailed policies and submission requirements which would be intended to minimize land use impacts" (click here to view a copy of this report).
The Executive of the BHCC has considerable concern about the degree of permissiveness for large scale wind energy developments, such as that proposed by Brascan Power Wind for the Town of the Blue Mountains, which is implied in this recommendation. Consequently we sought, and were granted an audience with the Mayor and Council on February 27/06 at which Mike Young and Peter MacGowan presented our report which documents our concerns on this issue.
