Wind Power Plant Construction Photos

The following photos were taken in the late summer of 2005. The Melancthon Grey project is a multi-phase installation of which this is phase one. Phase one is 45 turbines with an installed capacity of 67.5 MW.

The project is west of Shelburne between highway 89 and highway 10. We highly recommend you take some time to visit the project to get a clear understanding of the size of the industrial turbines proposed for our community.

Directions: The project is located along County Road 17 between highway10 and 89. From highway 124 go west on road 17 from the Masonville Store and gas station (Starvin' Marvin's Auto Wreckers is on the corner as well for reference). Continue on 17 past highway 10 and you will enter the heart of the project. From highway10 just go west at road 17 (there is an abandoned gas station on the corner). The project currently ends where 17 meets 89.

This is one section of mast arriving at a turbine site.

Here is the nacelle being lifted into place.

More of the nacelle installation.

Again, more photos from the nacelle installation.

Here are the completed turbines in this cluster of the project.

Here are two additional photos. On the right the new transmission lines are shown.
